Multimodal AI in Biomedicine

Aim & Scope

Why Attend?

This intensive one-week professional-level summer school will explore the transformative role of Multimodal AI in Biomedicine, examining how integrated machine learning architectures approach biomedical problems with a computational lens. The course features a series of extended lectures focused on developing AI algorithms, datasets, and interfaces that cut across computer vision, natural language processing, and structured health data, combined with an intensive workshop on navigating and integrating these disparate data modalities. Participants will learn practical skills for the use of modern computational frameworks and cutting-edge tools in a format that encourages collaborative engagement and offers ample time for follow-up conversation and networking. Approaches that emphasize algorithmic robustness, data interoperability, and the ethical implications of AI-driven clinical insights will be considered. The course setting will provide an ideal atmosphere of collegiality for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty to share knowledge and insights in this rapidly expanding and vital area of the computational life sciences.

Two kinds of participants are welcome.

Students: Participants are expected to do afternoon coursework and take a final exam. The course will consist of 24 hours of teaching. Upon successful completion of the final exam, participants will earn the equivalent of 1 ECTS credits applicable to any Ph.D. program. Grades will be assigned according to the ECTS grading scale.

The final exam includes:

  • Student presentation: a 3-minute talk on the student’s research project, scheduled during the course.

  • Written test: conducted on the last day of the course.

In addition:

  • Selected student presentations will be invited to deliver a 15-minute talk followed by a 5-minute Q&A session at the conference.

  • All students must submit a 1-page abstract describing their proposed talk no later than July 03, 2026 .

  • Selected presentations will be announced on July 12th, 2026.
